Hello! ♥ Today I'm going to be talking about the Innisfree It's Real Squeeze Rice Mask.
The Innisfree It's Real Squeeze Rice Mask is part of a cute little sample pack of 15 Innisfree masks that I ordered off of Amazon for about $16.50, which means each mask came out to about $1.10. While I hear around that these masks can go for as low as $0.85 sometimes (especially on TesterKorea... them low prices, thwarted by high as hell shipping costs), I got impatient and wanted them to arrive as quickly as possible so I used Amazon (I know, I know. I'm weak). Honestly, Amazon has really upped their K-beauty game, there used to be absolutely nothing available in the way of Korean/Japanese skincare, but now there's a whole cornucopia of awesomeness!
Innisfree is a Korean company that prides themselves on their all-natural approach to skincare. They use interesting ingredients such as purifying volcanic clay and mineral-rich seawater from the island of Jeju for example, and since I like to use natural products whenever possible, Innisfree immediately caught my eye!
Most of the ingredients that go into Innisfree's mask come from the Island of Jeju. They incorporate a lot of natural ingredients into their sheet masks, such as Jeju green tea, tangerine, green peas, and more into their products.
Innisfree has natural skincare science pretty much down to an art. The employees of Innisfree even go as to take steps to help preserve the island of Jeju by promoting various preservation activities such as picking up trash and collecting waste from Jeju's surrounding areas.
Now that that's over with, on to the review!
Ingredients:
Water, Glycerin, Butelyne Glycol, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Citrus Paradisi(Grapefruit) Fruit Extract, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Extract, Polyglyceryl-3 Methylglucose Distearate, Glyceryl Stearate, Dimethicone, PEG-100 Stearate, Carbomer, Xanthan Gum, Ethylhexylglycerin, Potassium Hydroxide, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Sodium Hyaluronate, Citrus Unshiu Peel Extract, Orchid Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Camellia Japonica Leaf Extract, Opuntia Coccinellifera Fruit Extract, Disodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance.This mask has a few different ingredients than the other Innisfree masks that I've tried so far. The star ingredient, rice extract, is known for its ability to smooth skin and brighten dark spots. I have a lot of dark spots from previous hormonal acne, as well as texture issues, so this mask was right up my alley! This mask also contains a few other notable ingredients such as:
Grapefruit extract: Grapefruit seed extract has extremely high amounts of antioxidants and phytonutrients, as well as vitamin C. Grapefruit extract helps with wound healing and cell turnover, and is said to have antibiotic properties.
Aloe leaf juice: Also known as aloe barbadensis leaf juice, it is known for containing amazing skin yumminess such as antioxidants in the form of beta carotene and vitamins C and E. It also contains detoxification properties such as amino and uronic acids, and it overall very soothing and healing. Aloe vera can even be used as an aftershave for both men and women, since it aids in healing small nicks and cuts.
Sodium Hyaluronate: Also known as Hyaluronic Acid. It has an incredible ability to retain up to 1000 times its weight in water, improving skin's moisture content while maintaining barrier function. It also reduces inflammation and fights against free radicals!
Citrus Unshiu Peel Extract: Citrus Unshiu, also known as Satsuma Mandarins, is a popular skincare ingredient in Asia for its antioxidant and rejuvenating properties. It's also touted to help lighten hyperpigmentation and prevent dullness.
Orchid Extract: Orchid extract is known to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, as well as moisturize and fight free-radicals; all to make skin smoother, healthier, and more hydrated.
Camellia Leaf Extract: Camellia oil has been used for centuries in China and Japan for its anti-aging and collagen-forming properties. It also has anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial properties.
The Innisfree It's Real Squeeze masks contain ~superior masking technology~ in the form of a 3-layered cotton sheet, delivering the optimum level of moisture to the skin. For a 3-layered mask, they're awfully thin. But I suppose they aren't too bad, since they are very saturated with essence and stay put on my face for the required amount of soak-up time.
Mask Details: I really enjoyed this mask! It had a thicker, lotion-like essence as opposed to the thin, watery liquid that comes in most Innisfree masks. It was decently saturated, and the essence didn't slide down my chin like it usually does with these masks. It was extremely moisturizing... maybe too much for morning use, but slapping on before bedtime had me waking up with super smooth, plump, moisturized skin!
Mask Fit: Typical "one-size-fits-all" mask. It fit me fine, but someone with a smaller face might have to do some creative folding and re-arranging for it to fit well, And it might not extend all the way to the ears on someone with a larger face.
Final Thoughts: I really liked this one! It's super moisturizing, and made my skin feel baby soft! Like I said before, it might be a bit heavy for morning use, but as an extra moisturizing step at night, this works really well! As somewhat of an Asian beauty noob, there's so much to explore and so many different products to try, and I've barely scratched the surface. But in my 6 months of tumbling down the AB rabbit hole, I've learned what ingredients to look out for and which to avoid, and most importantly, that the Western idea of covering everything up with makeup doesn't really solve the underlying problem. That's why I love the Asian approach to skincare so much - fixing skin from the inside out and having a healthy, holistic approach helps your skin to look better and feel better. Sheet masks are such a fun and interesting part of skincare for me, and honestly one of things I look forward to doing every day!
Repurchase: Sure! This mask was great at moisturizing, and didn't leave my skin greasy or heavy feeling. I have to try the whole boiling rice and using the water on my face! That sounds like it would be fun.
