Julep Maven Bombshell Welcome Box Review!

Hey there! I just want to thank everyone who reads my posts, I have a lot of fun doing them, and I'm happy that I get to share my reviews and little tidbits of my life with you all! While this blog is still in its wee little baby stage, it's really turned into something that makes me happy and helps me to relax, so I'm glad others have been enjoying it as well! Since we're nearing the end of the month, I've had more than enough time to enjoy my first Julep Maven box, the Bombshell Welcome Box, and have some swatches ready to show you guys.  This was the welcome box for the new July subscribers. Warning: I do not claim to be a master at applying nail polish. image

What is Julep Maven?
Julep Maven is a monthly subscription for nail polishes/nail care. It costs $24.99 a month, and comes with an assortment of cruelty-free, 5-free nail polishes. They contain no harmful toxins, and use breathable oxygen technology to keep nails healthy and strong. Julep also sends things like hand creams, cuticle oils, top/base coats, foot scrubs and creams, and even makeup.   Being a Maven also grants subscribers free shipping, and 20% off of anything in their store!

Upon subscribing, users take a Style Profile Quiz to figure out their style and what type of products best suit their personal tastes. The five beauty profiles are Boho Glam, Classic with a Twist, It Girl, Bombshell, and Modern Beauty, When I took the quiz, Julep matched me up with the Bombshell box.

I'm really feeling all these beautifully packaged boxes!

The first box will always be the Welcome box, and while this specific box isn't customizable, the second box and every box thereafter will be. image

All prices shown are prices for non-Maven customers. If you decide to subscribe, all polishes will end up being 20% off! Here's what was inside:

What even is that orange thing? I am obviously not a nail expert
or else I'd know... right?

Oxygen Bonding Base Coat ($18) Deco-mail pictograms of Heart I recently purchased a really nice base coat/top coat set from Butter London, but I'm always happy to receive a good base coat.

Deco-mail pictograms of HeartDenise ($14) Deco-mail pictograms of Heart A pretty lavender purple. This nail polish went on easily, but definitely needed two coats due to being a little on the runny side. I love lavender/pastel purples, so this was my favorite color in the box. image I'm definitely wearing this one often!

Deco-mail pictograms of HeartPolly ($14) Deco-mail pictograms of Heart Polly is a shimmery, iridescent, bright pink. This polish had the thinnest consistently, but was strangely the easiest to apply. I've been getting so many pink things in subscription boxes lately... pink lipstick, pink lip gloss, and now pink nail polish. I'm not complaining though, this would look pretty nice on my toes.

Deco-mail pictograms of HeartDawn ($14) Deco-mail pictograms of Heart Highlighter yellow. Great. Not my favorite color by a long shot. Not to mention, the formula was goopy and applied really patchy and thick in some areas, and needed three coats to even resemble the color that it looks like in the bottle. I'll probably be giving this away. I should make gift baskets for my friends! Maybe they'll like yellow? Just kidding, I wouldn't give anyone this crappy yellow goop. For some reason, I find that yellow polishes never apply well. Does anyone else have this problem?

Deco-mail pictograms of Heart2-Sided Buffer Blocks ($4) Deco-mail pictograms of HeartI'm embarrassed to admit that at first I didn't quite know what these were, but it turns out they're buffer blocks, which simply means that they're used to shape/file down nails. Julep sent me a pack of 2, and they both have a coarse side to smooth down deep nail ridges, and a finer side to file, buff, and shape nails. image They're a lot more gentle on nails than a regular nail file, which is fine for me because I have unusually weak ass nails, but for someone with stronger nails, the filing side might not be enough. In any case, it was a nice extra.

The Julep Maven Bombshell Welcome Box cost me $2.99 and has an overall combined value of $46. I'm excited to try out Julep Maven, however I find it hard trying to see myself using so much nail polish! image Julep also puts out Mystery boxes, where they surprise you with different nail polishes/nail care products, and they're one-time purchases so I might check that out instead of the monthly subscription. Either way, Julep polishes are great quality, and three polishes for only $25 isn't too bad! I'm one of those people who always has to have my nails painted, so this works out in my favor. * Emoticons * デコメ of the same face as well The only polish I didn't like was the yellow, but like I said, after the unchangeable Welcome box, Julep boxes are completely customizable! You can also swap out products, so if you want three nail polishes one month, you're good to go, but if you want a makeup product or a hand cream, you can do that as well and switch out one for the other!

Another thing that Julep Maven offers is the Secret Store, which is a monthly online pop-up shop where Mavens have access to exclusive, limited-time only deals, and it usually opens up right after the monthly boxes start shipping. I haven't shopped in the Secret Store yet, but I'll be sure to make an update as soon as I do! image

Also included as a nice extra is a coupon code for 50% off your next purchase in their shop! Photobucket

If you want to sign up for Julep Maven, you can do so OVER HERE. You'll receive August's Welcome box!

There are a few coupon codes available for when you sign up. You can take advantage of the deal shown above, but I've found some better ones! You can use the code TREATME to get your first box for free, save for $2.99 in shipping costs. You can also spend $30 and get $15 off using the code ALLYOURS. The code JULEPBBFREE will get you a free polish with your order. All you have to do is pick the polish you want to add on to your order before hand, and then enter the code at checkout!

As always, thanks for reading!
