It's been a hot minute since I've done a blog review (it hasn't really been that long, but ya know), and while I usually don't review hair products, 1. I actually have a lot to say about these, and 2. Brandbacker is sort of making me. But it's really nbd, because Brandbacker is awesome and honestly - I really don't do enough to take care of my hair. Skin? Put on all the serums and creams! Body? Eat the healthiest meals (often vegan!) and force yourself to exercise! Hair? Wash. Air dry. Maybe use a brush every three years. You know how it goes. Thus, I was super excited to receive this shampoo, conditioner, and deep conditioning treatment duo from Hask, so I can finally give my hair some much needed TLC and feel like my life is like, finally together.
A little bit about Brandbacker, because I really think you all should know - Brandbacker is an influencer platform that helps bloggers and those who have a reach on social media connect with brands. Much like Influenster or 08liter, Brandbacker has active campaigns for awesome brands (the campaigns I've recently been accepted to participate in are for Hask, Peter Thomas Roth, Finesse, and D'OR24K). All you have to do on your part is connect your social media on Bandbacker (if you browse my blog, you'll see the Brandbacker logo under my affiliates section), and apply for the campaigns. If chosen, you'll receive an email stating that you're in (yay!), and then the brand will ship out your samples, and in turn you'll have to submit a blog and/or social media review. Most campaigns send out full-sized samples, but some offer monetary compensation, although I haven't been chosen or any of those (I believe there was a paid campaign offered by Derma E some time ago!). Basically, it's just another way for brands to get the word out about their products, and you get free swag and a chance to earn a little extra "beer money". Sounds great, right?
For Hask's campaign, they sent over some new products of theirs - the Greek Yogurts Collection. The samples were randomized, and I could have received the Greek Yogurt with Blueberry and Acai Repairing Collection, the Greek Yogurt with Fig & Honey Hydrating Collection, or the Greek Yogurt with Pomegranate & Cranberry Color Protection Collection. I happened to receive the fig and honey variety, which is great because my hair is naturally oily but a bit dry near the ends, so I could definitely use all the hydration I can get.
A bit about Hask - Hask is a collection of hair care products featuring ingredient stories from all around the world. Utilizing high quality ingredients and luxury fragrances, Hask collections provide high performance formulas designed to treat and repair all hair types. The ranges include shampoos, conditioners, deep conditioners, and shine oils based on ingredients that are sourced from around the globe. Hask is used on more film and TV sets than any other hair care brand.
As part of the Greek Yogurt with Fig & Honey Hydrating Collection, I received the shampoo, conditioner, and deep conditioner. This is the collection I was hoping to receive, because fig and honey both have such awesome benefits!

Greek Yogurt with Fig & Honey Shampoo ($7.49 for 8.25oz / 240ml) - I was so confused by the packaging of the shampoo, until I finally figured out the dual compartment thing. There is an inner tube which holds the greek yogurt, and an outer tube that holds the honey and fig stuff. How cool is this? I may be easily entertained, but I still think it's pretty rad. Once squeezed, the two mix together to form a hydrating, nutrient rich formula to help restore your locks to their former glory. All of the products in this line claim to be free of parabens, sulfates, phthalates, gluten, and drying alcohol. None of their products are tested on animals, either.

Review: For the record, I have oily hair that's limp and not voluminous what-so-fucking-ever, and it also tends to frizz if someone looks at it the wrong way. With that being said, I full expected this duo to be too heavy for me, due to the combination of Greek yogurt and honey, but surprisingly, this gave my hair the perfect amount of hydration, cleansing all the oils and grossness from my hair while leaving it feeling soft, silky, and lightweight. One thing I never realized is that my scalp is oily probably because it doesn't get to see enough hydrating products (the same works for skin - why didn't I apply the same logic to my hair?). The scent is also positively delicious - rich honey with a hint of fig, not at all overwhelming or artificial. After using this shampoo for about a week, I can definitely say that my hair is no worse for wear - in fact, it's soft, shiny, and seems a lot less weighed down, and I can get away with washing my hair every other day instead of daily, something that makes me an immediate fan of this shampoo. It's not drying whatsoever, and lathers very well. At $7.49 for 8.5 ounces, it's not the best priced shampoo out there, but for a drugstore shampoo, I'm very impressed.
Greek Yogurt with Fig & Honey Conditioner ($7.49 for 8.25oz / 240ml) - The second product I received is the conditioner, which has the same fig and honey goodness goin' on as the shampoo. Surprisingly, the formula is incredibly thick and rich; I only need to use about half of what I normally use (I go through conditioner like it's water - #dryendslife). It has the same scrumptious scent as the shampoo, and has swirls of the same honey/fig formula. I usually wash and condition my hair first thing when I shower, so the conditioner has time to set while I wash my face, body, shave, etc, which is usually anywhere from 10-15 minutes.

Review: As much as I enjoy the shampoo, I LOVE the conditioner! Rich and moisturizing but still lightweight, it makes my oily, dehydrated hair sleek, shiny and soft without weighing it down. Since I only need a small amount (maybe a bit bigger than the size of a quarter for my armpit-length hair), I can see this tube lasting a long time. As a side note, I only apply conditioner from my ponytail down (if you grab your hair as if you're going to put it in a ponytail, that's the section you should apply conditioner to; any higher and your run the risk of greasy roots and flat hair). Conditioner is the product I have the most trouble with when it comes to hair care - most conditioners either weigh down my hair and make it look oily faster, or do the opposite and dry out my hair completely (I'm looking at you, Tresemme!). Overall, this conditioner supplies a good balance of moisture and hydration, and helps keep my hair shiny and frizz-free.

Greek Yogurt with Fig & Honey Deep Conditioner ($2.99 for 1.8oz / 53g) - This deep conditioner is the last product I received from Hask. It doesn't seem to be sold online, and pricing varies by store, but my local Walgreens has them for about $3 each. Deep conditioning treatments always make me a bit weary, since they're usually too heavy for my fine, oily tresses. Needless to say, I used this on a day I didn't have to leave my apartment, just in case I needed to do a series of desperate hair washings to get out any greasy buildup/residue. Hask's deep conditioners are available in three unique formulas: Hydrating, Repairing, and Color Protection.

Review: This packet is honestly huge - a whopping 1.8oz - so I've used this twice already and still have more than half the packet left. It has a thicker consistency than the conditioner, and has that warm honey/fig scent as the rest of the line. I took a small amount (twice the size of a quarter) and applied this from the middle of my hair down, focusing on dry ends. After about 5 minutes, it rinsed away clean, and my hair definitely felt softer and looked less dry/straggly near the ends. While I'm not a huge fan of deep conditioners, this is one I would probably repurchase for those times when my hair desperately needs a moisture/hydration boost, since it seems to tackle dry ends with relative ease. While I don't personally dye my hair at the moment (and rarely use flat irons/curling irons), I think this would also be a fabulous all-over deep conditioning treatment for those with dry/brittle hair or hair that is damaged from dyes, hot tools, etc.
Final Thoughts - As someone who wants hair care to be as effortless and pain-free as possible, I can say that I really loved using the Greek Yogurt with Fig & Honey collection from Hask. Everything from the cool packaging, delicious scent, and stellar results have drawn me in - my limp, oily hair has felt so light, clean, and soft since incorporating this trio into my hair care routine. While I don't think these would be quite moisturizing enough for someone with incredibly dry hair, if your hair is normal-oily, this line is definitely worth a try! I also appreciate that all of these products are cruelty-free and made in the USA. Although these products are free of more drying alcohols, they still contain stearyl alcohol and cetyl alcohol high up on the ingredients list (for both the conditioner and deep conditioner). I don't have an issue with either stearyl or cetyl alcohols, but it's definitely something to consider before purchasing if you're at all sensitive to these ingredients.
If you'd like to try out the rest of the Hask Greek Yogurt Collections, head on over to your local Walgreens - they're sold exclusively there, so you won't find them anywhere else at the moment! If you're a lazy bum like me though, you can always shop the rest of the line on the Walgreens website - they have a pretty sweet selection of Hask products (of which I have my eye on the purifying charcoal dry shampoo!).
