The Daily Goodie Box - First Impression & Review

It's been quite a while since my last blog post, and a lot has happened in between! I changed my social media presence up a bit (I'm now @skincaremochi on IG and Twitter), I moved out of Miami, (thank the universe), I started a new job, moved halfway across the country, got engaged, and have finally escaped the reign of terror that is my in-laws. Believe me, after three years of living with in-laws, moving out is more of a survival mechanism than anything! But I lived to tell the tale, and I'm back with a few overdue reviews, one of which is of the newest freebie box out on the market - Daily Goodie Box.

For the uninitiated, Daily Goodie Box is a 100% free sample box of pretty frickin' sweet goodies from top brands on the market. All you have to do to snag a Daily Goodie Box of your own is become a member on their site (which is also free - huzzah!) and fill out a personal profile. Depending on things like demographics, lifestyle, what products you're interested in, etc, if you're eligible for a box, you'll be sent one for free. Daily Goodie Box sends out a variety of pretty sweet samples, varying from food, drinks, personal care/beauty items, and more. There's only one catch - you have to review the items sent to you on their website. That's it! Sound too good to be true? Well, it's actually legit - companies have been trying to cut the middle man when it comes to advertising, and the perfect way to do this is to send a sample of the product they want buzz for straight to you, the consumer. It allows for a much better user experience for the consumer (I know the ad says this hot chocolate is the best thing you will ever put in your mouth, like, ever, but let's be real; there's no way of US knowing that until we get to try it!) and it's a more cost effective method for companies to get the word out about their snazzy new product. Hey, free stuff and less annoying ads being pushed on me? Count me in!

All my super exciting samples were shipped in a medium-sized white box with the Daily Goodie Box logo printed on the front, along with an insert reminded me dutifully to review my samples on my Daily Goodie Box account.

Deep River Snacks Sweet Maui Onion Flavored Kettle Cooked Potato Chips - Mmmm, yes! Kettle chips! I love me some kettle cooked potato chips (they're so much crunchier and way more satisfying than their sad, salty fried cousins). These were slightly sweet, with just the right amount of savory onion flavor. The fiance and I demolished these immediately.

Eat Dream Be Banana Lavender Dream Bar - Banana and lavender, in one beautiful bar? Is there anything you could want more in a snack bar? This banana-lavender work of art (seriously, look at that packaging) claims to contain nutrients known to support relaxation and sleep onset, dream flow, and memory recall. I don't know that it really induced deep relaxation, but it sure was tasty!

Cisse Hazelnut Hot Cocoa - I don't think I knew what hot cocoa was before I tried this! Rich, decadent, and made with Fair Trade cocoa and real chocolate chips (whole ones!), this is probably one of the best hot cocoas I've tried. Granted, my hot cocoa fix usually involves something from Starbucks/a local coffee shop (or Swiss Miss), so I may not be what one would call a hot cocoa connoisseur, but this hazelnut cocoa is pretty damn good. And the best part is, it's only $5 at Target! I can already feel my bank account dwindling and my waistline expanding. #NoRegrets

Lenny & Larry's The Complete Cookie (Chocolate Chip) -  I guess "healthy junk food" is a new thing, because this cookie isn't the first of it's kind that I've seen, but it's the first one I've tried, so I was excited to receive it! When it comes to junk food, I definitely am a connoisseur (embarassingly), so I was over the moon to discover that there is such a thing as a "healthy" cookie. There's 8g of protein and 4g of fiber jam-packed into this little cookie, and it has no trans fat, no artificial sweeteners, no sugar alcohols, and no soy. It's also vegan, kosher, non-GMO, and contains no dairy, no eggs, and uses only sustainable palm oil. None of that really sounded possible to me in the beginning (considering we're looking at a cookie here), but there it is. While it wasn't the greatest cookie ever baked, it was chewy, filling, and healthier than Chips A'hoy, so I would definitely get this again.

Navitas Naturals Superfood+ Bars in "Goji" and "Maca" -  Moar snack bars! These were also incredibly delicious, and are good for you as well! The maca bar is made with nine different nutrient-dense foods, including cashews, almonds, maca, sunflower seeds, cacao nibs, quinoa, amaranth, maple syrup and lucuma. Goji contains the cashew-almond-sunflower seed blend, as well as blueberries, cacao nibs, quinoa, goji berries, pomegranate, and acai. I really loved the fruity-nuttiness of the Goji bar, but they were both tasty and a snack I would definitely consider purchasing!

Teami Blends (Skinny & Colon Cleanse) - Initially I rolled my eyes a bit at receiving these because I thought it was another pyramid scheme, MLM company without yet another weight loss product that wouldn't deliver. I did a little research though, and I quite like the looks of Teami! They have a ton of different teas that target different concerns, (i.e., relaxing, energy, focus), and I received the Skinny blend (for weight loss) and the Colon Cleanse blend (to purify the body and boost metabolism). I don;t know if I believe the claims, nor did I see any results since it was just a sample, but the tea was delicious so I was happy.

Organic Gemini Tigernut Smoothie Mix - Hey, fellow gemini chiming in over here! I also received this tigernut smoothie booster from Organic Gemini. I've yet to use this, but it's supposed to improve gut health and strengthen the immune system. It's jam-packed with protein and prebiotics, and claims to control cravings and make you feel fuller longer. Bonus points for being chocolate flavored.

Dude Wipes - Dude wipes. Wipes for dudes. Snort ladies, I'm telling you, don't go near these, this is uncharted territory. I laughed when I pulled these out of the box, because, I mean...dude. I handed these over to my fiance (since they're, you know, for dudes only) and he reported back that they cleansed well but that they're nothing special. So for my male readers, I'm sure there are manly wipes out there for you guys somewhere, because everyone knows if you use lady wipes, your penis will fall off and you'll have to turn in your man card.

Raw Rev Glow Creamy Peanut Butter and Sea Salt Protein Bar - I totally fell in love with this protein bar - the Raw Rev Glo Creamy Peanut Butter and Sea Salt bar is everything I could ask for in a protein bar - it's delicious, filling, and is made from raw and organic ingredients with not a lot of sugar (only 2g per bar!). These have definitely made their way into becoming a staple in my household, and both my fiance and I take them to work on the daily. Seriously, try these like, yesterday.

Babo Botanicals SPF30 Clear Zinc Sport Stick - This is a fragrance free, 100% non-nano zinc sunscreen. In stick form. It boasts 80 minutes of water/sweat resistance and is non-greasy and perfect for sensitive skin. I'm 100% loyal to my Asian sunscreens, so I fully expected this to be heavy and leave an oily film on my skin like most western sunscreens. Alas, it did. I don't always like being right, you know. It does have a nice, short, clean ingredients list, so I think I'll be using this as a body sunscreen come summer.

Artisana Organics Raw Cashew Butter & Raw Coconut Butter - These were both really, really delicious - I ate the raw cashew butter with some apple slices, and used the coconut butter as a dairy-free coffee creamer. Both are delicious and really bring out the flavor of the foods they're eaten with, so I'm going to purchases both of these full-sized once I get the chance. Yum!

The Chia Co Black & White Chia Shots - Chia seeds are one of my favorite culinary additions. Being someone who eats a mostly vegetarian diet, it can sometimes be difficult to get enough protein in the foods I eat alone. So I sprinkle chia seeds on everythang. Soups, salads, yogurt, smoothies, stews, rice...you name it, I'll put chia seeds on it. These black and white chia seeds are chock full of fiber, omega 3 ALA, and protein, and are basically magic. The little shot packages are super convenient as well!

Overall, I was very impressed with my first Daily Goodie Box - especially considering how all of these amazing, healthy snacks and personal care items were 100% free! The amount of organic, sustainable, and vegan-friendly products was a major plus, and I didn't receive anything that I'd already tried before. A lot of people have been wondering if Daily Goodie Box is a legitimate company, and I'm here to tell you it's as real as it gets. Daily Goodie Box is comprised of some regular folks looking to bring the joy of awesome free shit to your doorstep. If you'd like to snag a Daily Goodie Box for yourself, you can do so here. Don't worry - there's no affiliate link through there, and no tricks or strings attached; just the joy of awesome freebies. I know, I was skeptical too. The only downside is that is may take a while for your box to come, depending on demographics and the amount of people who got there first. So hurry and sign up now, so you can get some great snacks too!
