Exuviance Triple Microdermabrasion Face Polish Review

Face polishes have never been a must-have product for me; when it comes to physical exfoliants/gommages/whatever, I am the laziest of the lazy. I like my chemical AHAs/BHAs, because I can just slap them on and wait 20 minutes, so rinsing or massaging required. But I do think that face polishes are overlooked as a crucial skincare step, and so I've been messing around with various physical exfoliating creams/gels, including the Exuviance Triple Microdermabrasion Face Polish, which I received courtesy of Brandbacker and Exuviance for review. If you already know all about the awesomeness that is Brandbacker, feel free to skip the next bit and scroll down to the actual review.

A little bit about Brandbacker, because I really think you all should know - Brandbacker is an influencer platform that helps bloggers and those who have a reach on social media connect with brands. Much like Influenster or 08liter, Brandbacker has active campaigns for awesome brands (the campaigns I've recently been accepted to participate in are for Hask, Finesse, Neostrata, and D'OR24K). All you have to do on your part is connect your social media on Brandbacker (if you browse my blog, you'll see the Brandbacker logo under my affiliates section), and apply for the campaigns. If chosen, you'll receive an email stating that you're in (yay!), and then the brand will ship out your samples, and in turn you'll have to submit a blog and/or social media review. Most campaigns send out full-sized samples, but some offer monetary compensation, although I haven't been chosen or any of those (I believe there was a paid campaign offered by Derma E some time ago!). Basically, it's just another way for brands to get the word out about their products, and you get free swag and a chance to earn a little extra "beer money". Sounds great, right?

A bit about the brand: Exuviance is created by Drs. Van Scott and Yu, widely recognized as leaders in the field of cosmetic dermatology. They discovered the anti-aging benefits of Glycolic Acid and created and patented the first Glycolic Peel. Since their ground-breaking discovery, the creators of Exuviance have continued to develop many new patented anti-aging ingredients backed by evidence from numerous scientific and clinical studies. Recognized around the world, Exuviance formulas are expertly developed to visibly transform skin by combining their patented innovations with the best, state of the art technologies available in dermatology today.

Like many, exfoliating my mug wasn't the highest on my list of skincare priorities; bit mistake! Facial exfoliation is more important than one might think when on the quest for smooth, healthy looking skin. As dead skin cells build up on the surface of the skin, skin texture becomes flaky and uneven, interrupting the absorption of whatever products you use, and leaving skin with a dull, uneven tone. This is wear face polishes come in! Using a face polish regularly gentle exfoliates dry, dead skin cells away, leaving skin smoother and more even in texture. Physically exfoliating polishes also contain a myriad of other benefits, including minimizing the appearance of pores and reducing acne/breakouts. Really, I can't give enough praise to exfoliation, and even if you're uneasy about venturing into the world of exfoliants, a lot of them are incredible gentle and perfect for sensitive/easily irritated skin.

The Exuviance Triple Microdermabrasion Face Polish is not your everyday, run-of-the-mill facial scrub - I wouldn't even go as far as to call it a scrub, since it's so gentle. There's no harsh polyethylene beads (meaning it's better for the environment, as well) and the formula is buttery smooth. This face polish takes on skin renewal with a unique blend physical, chemical, and enzyme exfoliators.

Description: Our latest anti-aging breakthrough masters a triple action approach to skin renewal in a single, yet powerful treatment with a unique blend of physical, chemical and enzyme rejuvenators. With just one application, this intensive exfoliating treatment delivers instant skin resurfacing.

Contains pure professional grade crystals used by dermatologists to smooth skin. Feel this potent exfoliator working as Papaya Enzyme and Glycolic Acid help dissolve impurities that contribute to congested pores, and loosen dead skin cells and dull and dry patches, polishing skin to a gorgeous silky softness and glow. With consistent exfoliation, once or twice a week, skin will be clearer, brighter with reduced appearance of pores and dark spots. Regular use helps increase the performance of your cosmetic treatment products. For best results, complete your facial with an Exuviance concentrated serum or anti-aging moisturizer.

How to use: Once or twice a week, apply a thin even layer to a clean wet face, lightly massaging in a circular motion for 30 seconds, avoiding eye area. Do not scrub. Leave on for up to 2 minutes (up to 1 minute for sensitive skin). Thoroughly rinse with warm water and gently pat dry.

Ingredients:
Aqua (Water), Glycolic Acid, Alumina, Glycerin, Hydrogenated Polydecene, Isononyl Isononanoate, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Glyceryl Stearate, Ammonium Hydroxide, Arginine, Butylene Glycol, Stearyl Alcohol, Polyacrylate-1 Crosspolymer, PEG-100 Stearate, Lactobionic Acid, Papain, Cetyl Alcohol, Hydroxypropyl Starch Phosphate, PEG-75 Stearate, Dehydroxanthan Gum, Ceteth-20, Steareth-20, Carbomer, Algin, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol, Chlorphenesin, Parfum (Fragrance), CI 19140 (Yellow 5), CI 14700 (Red 4).

Packaging: The packaging is a sleek, very sophisticated looking metallic tube that makes it easy to dispense the product. As I stated previously, this face polish has a very thick, creamy consistency. It smells absolutely amazing, like a tropical smoothie, which makes using this something I actually look forward to (rather than feeling like it's an unnecessary step in an already lengthy routine, like how I feel about most scrubs/gommages).

Key Ingredients: Glycolic acid and lactobionic acid, a non-irritating polyhydroxy acid derived from milk sugar help prevent and reverse the appearance of photoaging, including fine lines and wrinkles, uneven pigmentation, enlarged pores, and skin roughness. Papaya enzyme helps dissolve dead skin cells without rubbing, making it suitable for mature, delicate, or sensitive skin. The professional grade crystals provide gentle exfoliation, helping slough off dead skin cells to reveal smoother, brighter, healthier-looking skin.

Price: Retails for $72 for a 2.6oz. tube.

Review: Exuviance is one of those understated brands that just delivers. I don't think I've yet tried an Exuviance product that I didn't like, and this one was no exception - after a month of using this scrub once a week, I can definitely say that my skin has vastly improved in texture and my products have been absorbing much easier as well. Granted, I'm someone who didn't do a lot of physical exfoliating before, so your mileage may vary on that, but my skin has felt noticeably softer and smoother since incorporating this into my routine, much more so than what I've experienced with other facial scrubs. My skin is rather sensitive to certain actives, but since this scrub is so gentle, I'll probably be upping my usage to twice a week, to really see whether or not it will help with brightening and fading dark spots. Although it's a bit pricey, when compared to professional-grade skin treatments, this little tube is definitely more cost-effective and convenient - it's like having the spa right there at home with you! For that, I would definitely consider repurchasing another tube since the results really surprised me (and honestly, it smells like fruit smoothie. So. Good.).

You can pick up a tube of the Exuviance Triple Microdermabrasian Face Polish on both the Neostrata website and at Ulta.
