FaceTory "Four Ever Fresh" January 2017 Review

As a self-proclaimed sheet mask addict, I'm always on the lookout for new mask subscriptions! FaceTory has been making rounds on social media lately, and admittedly, their cute packaging and unique selection of sheet masks on their website drew me in. I need my products to actually be effective, but I'm an absolute sucker for cute packaging, and FaceTory gets a 10/10 for adorableness. I subscribed to their "Four Ever Fresh" box (which is more of a bag) last month, to get a taste of the kind of masks they'll be sending and get a feel for the company. Did I mention it's only $5 a month?

A little about FaceTory:
"We are a group of sheet mask junkies from sunny California who came together to curate and run the sheet mask subscription box called FaceTory. Like everyone else, we were first overwhelmed with the variety of Korean sheet masks available in the market when we all first started our sheet masking journeys. However, armed with the passion about Korean skincare, we have come to love and appreciate the wonders of sheet masking.
Our obsession led us to find so many great sheet masks available that were harder to access outside of Korea. Now we want to share and provide our favorites among the latest Korean masks in an affordable and easy way. Each month we work hard to bring you - whether you're a sheet mask junkie or a sheet mask newbie - the must-have sheet masks delivered right to your doorstep."
I really enjoy the whole "straight to your doorstep" delivery thing that's been taking over the US lately; not out of laziness (although I do admit I can revert to couch potato status from time to time), but because frankly, I don't live in Korea. I'm not bombarded with Korean news, pop culture, or adverts on a daily basis, and short of spending a lot of time researching what's "new" in the K-beauty market, I'm often late to find out what new beauty products are out on the market over there, being a 'Murican. With a job, school, and a sometimes-social life, I don't always have the time to scour blogs and window shop on my favorite K-beauty retailers, so I can totally appreciate getting a handful of new and exciting masks (and some oldies-but-goodies) dropped in my mail box every month. As much as I love doing research, I know there isn't always time for it, especially if I want to stay on top of the K-beauty game, so subs like FaceTory are usually my go-to for "what's new" in the sheet mask world.

Very cute insert with descriptions of the masks included. If you're new to sheet masking, FaceTory has a Sheet Mask 101 page, where you can learn everything that you need to know about becoming a sheet mask maven. Here are the masks I received:

Tony Moly I'm Real Avocado Mask (SRV: $1.50) - May as well get this one out of the way. I love Tony Moly masks, especially the I'm Real line, and I've used this mask many, many times before. As someone who isn't new to sheet masking, this isn't particularly exciting, but objectively speaking, it's a solid mask choice, especially for those new to the sheet masking game. It has a very sweet but subtle scent, and is made of a stretchy cotton dripping with tons of milky essence. This mask always leaves my skin feeling smooth, moisturized, and non-greasy. Despite having a thicker, milky essence, this mask delivers the perfect amount of moisture and nourishment, and would be perfect for combination-dry skin types. I'll probably use this since the Avocado Nutrition mask is one of my faves, but if not, it'll go into my giveaway pile.

Description: Nourish your skin with the I'm Real Avocado mask sheet! The Tony Moly I'm Real line consists of 11 different types of masks individually tailored to target specific skin concerns. The Avocado mask has a milky-liquid type essence formulated with avocado extract to deliver needed nutrients deep into the skin. Formulated without parabens, talc, benzophenone, or triethanolamine, this is the perfect mask to enrich your skin with some much needed supplements.

Purified water, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Mineral Oil, Macadamia Nut Oil, Allantoin, Panthenol, Polysorbate 80, Xanthan Gum, Sorbitan Sesquioleate, Chlorphenesin, Carbomer, Dimethicone, Phenoxyethanol, Tromethamine, Avocado Fruit Extract, 1,2-Hexanediol, Propanediol, Perfume, Apricot Fruit Extract, Caprylyl Glycol, Illicium Verum Fruit Extract, Disodium EDTA, Retinol Palmitate, Thiamine HCl, Rivoflavin, Niacin, Carnitine HCl, Pantothenic Acid, Biotin, Folic Acid, Ascorbic Acid, Tocopherol. Skin Day Double Day Whitening Animal Mask (SRV: $4) - Another animal mask, which seem to be really popular lately. I normally don't like animal masks to be honest; the fit is always wonky, the material is stiff and rarely clings to my skin, and the majority of the ones I've tried were just, well, unimpressive in general. I do have to say though, this was one of the better ones I've tried. It has some pretty sweet ingredients too, including pomegranate, mulberry root, snail mucin, and gold extracts. Fancy! The mask was that same stiff cotton that I've come to expect from printed-on animal masks, but it was somewhat thinner, so the clinginess was better and the mask stayed put once it adhered. The fit was also great, with very little skin remaining uncovered, and the mask came with little under-eye pieces in a separate pouch, to make sure that every inch of skin is covered. This mask lasted about 40 minutes before I had to remove it, and my skin drank up all of the thin, watery essence and looked much more even-toned and a bit brighter as well. This mask leaves a non-shiny, non-tacky finish, so it'd make the perfect mask to use in the morning before applying makeup to ensure a smooth, flawless finish. Not bad for a character mask! I didn't really see much brightening or fading of the dark circles under my eyes though, and while the mask was good, it didn't blow me away, so I probably wouldn't rush out to repurchase it.

Description: Who says you can't have fun while taking care of your skin?! This whitening and brightening mask in the shape of a panda face helps brighten up dull skin with antioxidant-rich pomegranate and mulberry root extracts. There is also a separate eye patch soaked with acai berry and Chinese pearl barley to help reduce the appearance of any dark circles.

Ingredients:
Water, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Niacinamide, Sodium Hyaluronate, Betaine, Sea Buckthorne, Pomegranate Extract, Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Mulberry Root Extract, Beta Glucan. Copper Tripeptide, Acetyl Hexapeptide-8, Ethylhexylglycerin, Glyceryl Caprylate, Gold Extract, Grapefruit Extract, Chamomile Flower Extract, Xanthan Gum, Panthenol, Allantoin, Disodium EDTA, Tocopherol Acetate, Potassium Hydroxide, Methylparaben, Portulaca Extract, Snail Mucin Filtrate, Acrylate, PEG-60 Polyoxyethyline Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Fragrance. CosDNA Analysis

Innisfree It's Real Squeeze Acai Berry Mask (SRV: $1.50) - Another oldie-but-goodie. The Innisfree It's Real line can be a hit or miss for me, but the acai berry mask is definitely one of my favorites. This mask contains acai berry extract to help brighten and clear skin. It also contains Innisfree's signature Jeju Green Complex, which consists of green tea, tangerine, cactus, camellia leaf, and orchid extracts. The fit is pretty decent on this one, with only a little gaping around the nose area (although I do have a small nose, so it might fit others just fine). The papery cotton mask is soaked with a good amount of opaque, slightly viscous essence that smells fruity and a bit boozy (probably due to the alcohol content), but the scent doesn't stick around for long. I've used this mask many times and have reviewed it before, but I'll recap by saying that after about 35-40 minutes, this mask leaves my skin looking very bright and moisturized. Win! The essence feels slightly tacky and first, but sinks in after about 10 minutes. I'm usually not wowed by the It's Real line, but I would go out and repurchase this one in a heart beat!

Description: Innisfree is quite possibly one of the most, if not THE most popular Korean sheet mask brand in South Korea. This acai berry mask is soaked in nutrients to help restore elasticity and moisture, which helps give off the appearance of dewy, youthful looking skin. Fun fact: acai berries are considered so precious in the Amazon that they are often referred to as the "fountain of youth" for their tendency to restore the skin to such healthy measures.

Ingredients:
Water, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Cetylethylhexanoate, Caprylic/Caproc Triglyceride, Citrus Paradisi (Grapefruit) Extract, Euterpe Oleracea Fruit Extract, Polyglyceryl-3 Methylglucose Distearate, Glyceryl Stearate, Dimethicone, PEG-100 Stearate, Carbomer, Xanthan Gum, Ethylhexylglycerin, Potassium Hydroxide, Aloe Barbidensis Leaf Juice, Sodium Hyaluronate, Citrus Unshiu Peel Extract, Orchid Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Camellia Japonica Leaf Extract, Opuntia Coccinellifera Fruit Extract, Disodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Frangrance. CosDNA Analysis

Leaders Amino Moisture Mask (SRV: $2) - This was the mask that I was most excited for in this month's bag; I adore most Leaders masks that I've tried, so I had really high hopes for this one. Made of a thin, stretchy cotton-like material like most of their masks, this was one absolutely drenched with a clear, clean-smelling essence that had some slip to it. There's was probably a tablespoon left over in the packet, which I applied to my neck, chest area, and arms. I kept this mask on for over an hour, reveling in the perfect fit and all of the moisture my skin was getting, and after I removed the mask it was still soaked. Unfortunately, while this mask gave my skin a huge dose of moisture, I don't feel like it did much else, and it definitely left behind a sticky finish. I used this in the morning, and I didn't even have to apply anything else after it - my face stayed moisturized (and slightly tacky) throughout the day. I think this would be a great mask for those with dry skin, and one that I would consider repurchasing to use at night if my skin is feeling particularly dry. It definitely wasn't mind-blowing, though.

Description: Recommended for dull, dry skin types, This Leaders Mediu Amino mask contains 17 different types of amino acids, which are natural moisturizing factors that help to moisturize, protect, and soothe the skin by supplementing essential ingredients for skin composition. Ingredients such as mineral water, a natural moisturizing ingredient, moisturize the skin with rich minerals, and hyaluronic acid and whole ceramide protects the skin from dehydration. These active ingredients create soft, moist skin by removing unnecessary keratin and helping the absorption of moisture.

Ingredients:
Water, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Chamomila Recutita Flower Extract, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Acer Saccharum Extract, Achillea Millefolium Extract, Arnica Montana Flower Extract, Gentiana Lutea Root Extract, Artemisia Absinthium Extract, Glycine, Serine, Glutamic Acid, Alanine, Lysine, Arginine, Tyrosine, Phenylalanine, Proline, Threonine, Valine, Isoleucine, Histidine, Cysteine, Methinine, Hydrolyzed Elastin, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Ethylhexyglycerin, Xanthan Gum, Fragrance, Sodium Hyaluronate, Ecklonia Cava Extract, Saururus Chinensis Extract, Artemisia Capillaris Flower Extract, Houttuynia Cordata Extract, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-5, C8-12 Acid Triglyceride, Cholesterol, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Lactic Acid, Stearic Acid, Oleic Acid, Ceramide 3, Phytosphingosine. Final Thoughts: As a first box, I really enjoyed the Four Ever Fresh subscription; while I have tried half of the masks before, they were still really solid choices as far as ingredients and effectiveness are concerned, and I can appreciate the fact that I received some old favorite in addition to some I haven't even heard of/tried yet. Between the cute packaging, solid mask choices, and price point (Did I mention it's only $4.95 per month + $0.99 shipping?) I think this would be a great mask sub for beginning maskers, as well as a way for more learned mask addicts to supplement their stash. Plus...it's like, $5, and appeals to my inner frugal self). Since I really enjoyed my Four Ever Fresh experience, I went ahead and signed up for their higher tier sub, the Seven Lux, which brings 7 carefully curated sheet masks, and includes more interesting varieties such as hydrogels and multi-step masks with higher quality ingredients. I might still keep the Four Ever Fresh sub as well, since it's only $5 a month, and I really had fun trying the different masks I received.
