Japan Funbox Mini June 2016 Review

I've been totally into snack boxes lately, especially Asian ones! I recently received a Japan Funbox complimentary for review, and I'm so happy because 1. I'm a fatty, and 2. everyone loves Japanese snacks, am I right? :D Japan Funbox is a monthly subscription service that delivers Japanese candy to your doorstep with free shipping. Each box contains carefully selected, super fun Japanese snacks, candies, and DIY kits that are often hard to find. The Original and Family ranges also include bonus items. Japan Funbox also ships to over 100 countries! I received the Mini box, which includes 5-7 fun snacks and costs $14.99 a month.

Alfort Chocolate Covered Biscuits - A combination of rich milk chocolate and whole grain biscuits. These were really yummy! You can find snacks similar to these in the US (like Milano cookies, which are so incredibly good), but I liked these just as much because the chocolate was so rich (and it didn't taste like cheap, fake chocolate). These were a win for me!

Shuwabo - A long, soft candy with bubbly powder on the inside. This tasted like lemon/lime, and was a bit sour. I love chewy candy, so this was devoured pretty quickly.

Ume-Pachi - A combination of crackling ume (plum) candy and sour ume flavor. This was like Japanese pop rocks! The flavor is kind of hard to describe; it didn't really taste like plum to me. It was more of a savory, sweet meat flavor, but still good.

Tomato Pretz - Pretz is a pretty popular snack amongst Japanese foodies. These are like mini tomato and green vegetable flavored pretzel sticks. I love Pretz, so of course this was eaten in a jiffy. I'm going to get so fat. :D

Whistle Candy (Grape Flavor) - Also a popular Japanese candy (mostly amongst children). If you hold it in your mouth a certain way, in makes a (admittedly annoying) whistling sound. These were powdery and sweet, and came with a little toy. Cute for kids, more novelty/nostalgia for me.

Pizza Potato Chips - These were my favorite snack in the box! Crisp, thick-cut chips with ridges that tasted just like pizza. They're so much better than pizza Pringles, and taste more like pizza, too. These were gone in a blink, and left my boyfriend and I wishing we had more. Yum!

I really enjoyed my Mini Japan Funbox! There were some candies included that were old favorites, and some that I've never tried/heard of before. I think this is a great box for those just getting into snack subscription boxes, or for those new to Japanese snacks. While I don't think that the contents of the box quite reached $15 in retail value (most of the snacks included are $1-2), when you factor in the free shipping and customization/curation of the box itself, I think it evens out the price. If you'd like to sign up for your own Japan Funbox, you can do so here. Have you tried Japan Funbox? What's your favorite snack subscription box?
