Japan Crate June 2016 Review & Unboxing

Japan Crate is a subscription that sends you an assortment of Japanese snacks and candies every month. There are mini, original, and premium options.

Japan Crate Mini - $12, contains 4-6 snacks.
 Japan Crate Original - $25, contains 8-10 snacks + a DIY kit.
Japan Crate Premium - $30, contains 12-14 snacks, a DIY kit, a Japan exclusive drink, and a bonus item.
Shipping is free to America, and $10-15 worldwide depending on your country.

Today I'll be reviewing the $30/month Premium Crate, because I'm a go-big-or-go-home kinda girl and obviously needed the largest size. Because reasons.

Each box comes with a mini manga "magazine" that details the products included inside the box, along with some fun extra info on Japanese food/culture!

Yokai Watch Jelly Drink DIY - I have to apologize because I forgot to take a photo of the finished product, but this is a small DIY jelly drink that kind of resembled liquidy Jell-O. It was yummy, but overly sweet.

Paicro Sugar & Butter Flavor Croissants - Tiny, crunchy croissant-shaped puffs that tasted like sweet buttery goodness. These were definitely a favorite - perfect with coffee or tea!

Maroshuwa Peach Soda - Peach flavored soda, pretty self explanatory. This tasted surprisingly like real peaches (for some reason, America can never get the peach flavor right). This was also a favorite!

Yaokin Cocobis Biscuits - Thin cookies lightly flavored with coconut. The coconut flavor didn't stand out too much for me, but they were still delicious! Another treat that would go great with a hot cup of coffee or tea.

White & Cookie Chocolate - A tiny square of white chocolate and cookie bits, a la Hershey's Cookies & Cream. I think it was even better than Hershey's, but I do wish it were bigger. :(

Milk Flavored Chocolate - These were tiny little balls of chocolate, that tasted like condensed milk. I also wish these were bigger, because they were so good!

Caramel Gari Gari Twists - These were super crunchy and very sweet, with a lot of caramel flavor. My boyfriend almost ate all of them, but luckily, I move fast when there's caramel snacks in my vicinity. Yum.

Maruta Mini Bottle - A mini bottle of strawberry powder candy. This was weird, and I feel like I got a million cavities from it, but it was interesting, and I enjoy interesting. :D

Puchi Puchi Uranai Candy - Mini chocolate balls. This was supposed to be some kind of horoscope game, but we couldn't figure it out, so we just ate it. These were just okay, they had that fake chocolate taste that I'm not a huge fan of.

Morokashi Wa Taro Doubanjiang Flavor - These were like mini corn puffs with a chili and fermented bean paste flavor. This had to be one of my favorite snacks in the entire box, they were so good! I polished these off in record time, and even searched Amazon to see if they're sold there. Unfortunately, I couldn't find them. :(

Punifuwa Happy Nikukyu Peach Gummies - These were mini peach flavored gummies shaped like kitty paws! They were so adorable, and were delicious, but were coated with a white powder (presumably to prevent them from sticking together) that tasted a little weird.

SakuSaku Panda Anniversary Chocolate Torte Cookies - Another favorite! These were chocolate cookies filled with chocolate cream and topped with a solid chocolate candy. SO. GOOD. I'm so disappointed that they're limited edition, because I would buy these by the pound if I could.

Animal Kid Biscuits - Basically animal crackers. Yummy, but boring.

Sumiyaki Coffee Candy - Coffee flavored hard candies. These taste just like Cuban cortaditos (mini espresso shots). So good! I have a few in my purse right now for when I want a cup of coffee but don't have the time for one. :D

Takaoka Choco Flakes - These chocolate covered cornflakes are a classic Japanese snack. These were very good; crunchy, chocolate-y perfection.

Final Verdict - I really enjoyed this month's Japan Crate! I think it was one of the better boxes that I've received during my time of subscribing to them. They was a great variety of both sweet and savory snacks, and I enjoyed every single one! My favorites were definitely the SakuSaku Panda cookies and the Caramel Gari Gari Twists. With 15 items for $30, this box came to around $2 per snack, which is great considering the fact that all of these snacks were put together, shipped for free, and beautifully packaged. Most of these snacks aren't available to me in America, so that's where the true value of Japan Crate comes in for me.

If you'd like to sign up for Japan Crate, you can do so here. Happy snacking!
