Kloverbox June 2015 Review and Unboxing!

Hi there! Yay for review #2! I know, I know, I'm putting out a June review in July, but I also really loved June's Kloverbox, and my blog is barren and I could use the practice, as this is my first time using blogger after all! In my defense, this month's box came hella late. Like, the 27th of June late. So it would have been impossible to give a good review in time anyway! Ahem.

Moving onward, last month's Kloverbox was great! Although this was my first time receiving a box from them, I have been following Kloverbox as far back as 2014, so I know what kind of products they endorse and the types of things they send to their customers, so I have that to compare it to, at least. They are definitely experts at curation who believe in using natural and organic products, and I kept anxiously checking my mailbox all month in hopes that it would come soon.

What is Kloverbox?
Kloverbox is a monthly subscription box service that sends you 4 or more specially curated, natural, organic items to your doorstep for you to enjoy. Kloverbox sends products from all categories, including beauty, lifestyle, food, health, and products that you can use around the home. I especially love that Kloverbox helps incorporate healthier, more natural products into everyday life.

How it Works:
Kloverbox has a 1-month, 3-month, and 6-month subscription, and the longer the subscription, the more of a discount you get!

FC2無料カウンター A monthly subscription costs $25 per box.
FC2無料カウンター A 3-month subscription costs $71.25, or $23.75 per box.
FC2無料カウンター A 6-month subscription costs $135, or $22 per box.
FC2無料カウンター Shipping is free!

Both the 1-month and 3-month subscriptions auto renew; however, the 6-month sub is a one time purchase, meaning you will not be billed automatically once the 6-month period is over. Kloverbox also offers coupons inside every box so that if you really adore something that you receive, you'll be able to get it at a discount! image

Oooh, a DISCOUNT!
I didn't receive my own personal discount code, but if you want to try out Kloverbox, you can save even more money by using the code I used which is HB10 at checkout to get 10% off, and it's good for any subscription!

June's theme was "Balance", and it brought 4 products!

They also send cute info cards, and even signed the back! I love that it's so personalized, and that I can actually know what everything is. Sub boxes that don't send info cards are lame.

So frickin' cute.

Pacifica Indian Coconut Nectar Body Butter ($15)

Pacifica is one of those brands that I've always wanted to try. Although their makeup hasn't yet won me over, their reputation precedes them when it comes to their lotions and creams. This lotion smelled SO GOOD out of the bottle, and I could really pick up hints of the mango butter under the coconut and vanilla. At first, the scent wasn't overpowering, and my skin absorbed it pretty well. But for some reason, after a while it started smelling intensely like Play Dough. I don't even know what happened to the scent, maybe it just didn't mix well with my body chemistry? Who knows, but my boyfriend immediately asked me why I smelled like play dough, and when I told him it was my lotion, he made fun of me and called me the play dough girl.  Maybe I'll use it at night on my feet or something, because it moisturized so, so well and made my skin super soft. I can endure the teasing for some good moisturizing action~

As you can see, the formula is super thick. You have to rub it in a bit and let it soak into your skin, but if you don't mind it feeling heavy for a few minutes, this body butter has moisturizing power like no other~

What Kloverbox says:
"Smell incredible with antioxidant rich body butter from Pacifica! The Indian Coconut Nectar is a delicious tropical blend of coconut and delicate creamy vanilla inspired by travels to faraway destinations. The rich, creaminess leaves skin silky soft!"

Deco Naturals Clay Mask ($26)

Deco Naturals is a company that has been featured by Kloverbox before, so I was pretty pumped when I received this clay mask from them! There were two options, you could either receive the Prickly Pear & Aloe (which is the one I have) or the Lemon & Sea Clay version. I have been getting some blackheads lately (which is very rare for me), so I'm happy that I can vanquish them with this cute little jar of clay~ This is a full-size, 4oz product, and to use, you have to mix a little bit of the clay powder with a liquid, such as water, honey, yogurt, etc. until you get a paste-like consistency, and then spread over your face and leave on for 10 minutes. Wash off with water, and voila! Not gonna lie, I'm hella lazy so I haven't opened this up yet, but I'm *patiently* waiting for a pretty gold mixing bowl that's going to be coming in my Peach & Lily Seoulcialite box, so I'm going to use that as my excuse for being a lazy poop~ image

What Kloverbox says:
"One of our favorites, Deco Naturals, has joined us again! This time featuring their new masks in Prickly Pear + Aloe - or - Lemon + Sea Clay! These potent masks are an excellent way to help pull out impurities and unclog pores. Set aside a bit of 'me' time when you decide to give yourself a mask, not only to relax the mind and spirit, but it will also leave you with fabulous looking skin."

Wash Beauty Original Konjac Sponge ($14)

So, it's no secret that I love konjac sponges. They're so weird and cute! Konjac sponges look like weird styrofoam kitchen sponges, but they feel kind of like squishy jelly when you use them, and are made of a porous root vegetable. Super weird. But they're actually very gentle exfoliators, and they help make your skin look a little more radiant and glowy. I *may* have already stocked up on a bunch of konjac sponges from The Beauty Shelf (they were on sale on Amazon and I have Prime, free 2-day shipping~), but I'm still happy to have received this one because it is huge! They get about 50% bigger when they're wet, and this one already fills up my entire palm so I can't wait to see how big it gets. (タイトルなし) デコメ絵文字 Just don't buy into the ones that claim they can heal acne or draw impurities out of the skin with ingredients like charcoal - the charcoal has to be active in order to do this, so it's just a marketing gimmick. The original/natural konjac sponges work just as well.

What Kloverbox says:
"The Original Konjac Sponge is 100% pure Konjac with no added clays. As konjac is 100% alkaline, it will help balance the pH of your skin while still gently exfoliating and cleansing. The Konjac sponge is an extremely gentle cleanser for both face and body. The sponge acts as an exfoliator, rubbing off dead skin cells in the most delicate manner."

Just a side note, if you're someone who pays attention to the pH of cleansers and other products, you may want to be cautious about using alkaline products on your face if you want to keep the acid mantle of your skin in tact. Personally though, I doubt that konjac sponges can even affect the pH of your skin to any real degree, and even if they can, the effects are probably negligible.

Natalie Therese Key Chain Pouch ($14)

I immediately put this cute little pouch on my keys as soon as I got it, because honestly how cool looking is this?? It's a little key chain pouch made of real cork that has been harvested from cork trees. It's about the size of a generic coin purse, but the texture feels so cool and the blue zipper is a cute added detail. I honestly did not even know cork trees existed. I've never actually thought about where cork comes from. image Cork is actually a renewable resource, and harvesting the cork doesn't hurt the trees at all, so I feel even better. Yay Kloverbox, for protecting the environment! image I'll probably use it to carry around lip balms or bobby pins or something. I rarely ever use cash these days.

What Kloverbox says:
"Pack light with this zip key chain pouch! On the go, it's the perfect size for cash and credit cards! This handmade, high-quality, durable cork material is natural and harvested from cork oak trees every nine years without harming or killing the trees. The bark of the trees naturally regenerates, making cork a renewable resource. Cork is also recyclable and biodegradable."

Final Verdict:
Kloverbox costs $25 a month (or less, if you purchase the 3-month or 6-month subscriptions) and the June box has a total retail value of $69! Which is already more than twice the amount that you pay for. I really loved the little cork pouch, and I can never have enough Konjac sponges, although admittedly this one retails a little on the pricier side and I can find them for cheaper elsewhere. I also adore the clay mask and think it's a great addition to the box, especially since hotter weather is coming and with that means oilier, clogged pores.  I'm not sure how I feel about the Pacifica body butter, because what even, play dough scent?? But maybe I got a tube from a wonky batch, or maybe it just doesn't agree with my body chemistry like I said earlier. Either way, I'll still use it at nighttime like I said as a foot or hand cream. I kind of wish I had received more than just 4 items, but the value and novelty of the products makes up for it. The box stuck with the theme pretty well, so I think this month Kloverbox hit the mark~!
